Well, we just finished our first "continental tour" ... what a riot!!! We boogied off Cortes on Friday morning (first boat) and headed down to Robert's Creek (Gibson's Landing area) just north of Vancouver. We played a fun set after "Beach House" to a lively audience who danced up a storm for us ... then back for a little after party at the mysterious Warehouse ... fun fun ... then another early start the next morning. A big shout out to Beach House for organizing that event and making up the fun posters, etc. Thanks to Suzie for putting up with us, I mean, putting us up ... if you're ever in Gibson's, I'd HIGHLY recommend Suzie's Backpacker's Hostel called Wynken, Blynken and Nod ... it's on the water and easy to get to ... it's clean and bright and lovely ... get there!!! The next day, we drove north to Powell River to play the Sunshine Music Festival on Saturday ... took a spectacular ferry to Saltery Bay and then to the festival. We were treated so wonderfully there too and I'd like to thank Anne for the incredible food and Don and Paul for the invitation and all the rest. Great sound ... wonderful venue!!! We played after a guy named Matt Anderson ... the most inspired guitar playing I've ever seen with the vox to boot!!! He made it all look so effortless while he simply whipped in this harmonic with that one and continued to keep time and sing so soulfully and rich ... what a highlight!! If you ever get the chance to take this guy in, please do ... you won't regret it. After the festival, there was Simon & Katie's wedding ... finally getting the P.A. System together after a bit of confusion and misunderstandings, we ripped through 3 lively sets of AGB AllStars originals and a few covers. The crowd danced and danced with huge smiles on their faces. It was a sight to be seen. Thanks to all who helped get that wedding gig off the ground and a special thank you to Milan for working the wedding crowd for 3 microphones at various locations complete with patch cords and makeshift stands. Thanks to Mike Jean and Robbie Driedigger ... and to Axel, Francesca and Marthe ... for the 'Cortesian' representation ... the whole experience was somewhat surreal and very fine. Garnette, our drum queen, finished off the last set for the weekend begging for more, which, to my mind, is always a good sign. Thanks Garnette, Amber, Michelle and Charlotte for keeping an easy friendship full of love and music, complete with perspective and joy. We made it!!! When are we gonna do it again? Oh yah, this Saturday ... yee haa woo hoo ... see ya at practice Tuesday, Love Love and much laughter, Liesa
